Letter 70: The People

January 27, 2015

Here in Ala Beira Mar, we have found a good group of investigators to help out to be baptized. I’ll talk a little bit about them here. And I forgot my memory stick thing at home because we came straight from a barbecue with our zone on the other side of the city, so yeah. That means more pictures next week! 😀

Marilda and Fernando are a mom and son that stopped one of our members in the street, and asked for a prayer on her home. They are elect. We were teaching them about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and talked about baptism, and she literally asked, ‘When can I be baptized?’ She went to church this week, and said she liked it, and the soup that we have after church every last Sunday of the month. She liked it all. Her son is super religious, and knows a lot. He slept through church this week, but he promised to ‘come and see’ next week. They’re marked for baptism on the 7th of February, but we’ll have to push it back a little bit. Fernando is 22, so when he gets baptized, he can serve amission! So that’s exciting.

Maria and Rafael are another mom and son that we are teaching. The zone leaders were teaching them on the other side of town. They are super excited for baptism, but Maria worked this Sunday, and Rafael slept through church, so they still have some preparing to do for baptism, but they’re marked for the 21st of February. We really like them, and they say ‘pass by any time, the door’s always open for you guys.’ Rafael is 20,so when he gets baptized, he can serve a mission! So that’s exciting.

Paulo Ricardo is a young man that we’re teaching that really wants to get baptized, but the only problem is that his dad is a member of another church, and won’t let Paulo Ricardo get baptized. He is 15 years old, and loves church, is reading the Book of Mormon every day, praying, and already knows that it’s true. We just need his dad’s heart to get softened, which is in the hands of God now.

The people are awesome here, and we definitely accept your prayers to help us to find more and get help from the members. Thanks!

Love,

Elder Connor Weeks
